CREATING REAL PATHWAYS THROUGH ON-COUNTRY WORK, TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP.

The Gurridi Work Camp is a community-led employment, wellbeing and justice diversion initiative currently underway on Gurridi Country near Doomadgee in the Lower Gulf of Queensland.

Now in its pilot phase, the work camp is focused on creating a culturally grounded diversion pathway for men in Doomadgee who have had contact with the justice system or may be at risk of deeper involvement.

The program provides structured, on-Country work camps that combine practical work experience, accredited training, life skills development, routine, cultural connection and peer support in a positive community-led environment.

Participants work alongside local leaders, mentors and trainers to deliver real projects that support the care and activation of Gurridi while building responsibility, confidence and practical skills that support long-term wellbeing, employment pathways and stronger participation in community life.
