Gurridi
Text to add

a varied and resilient landscape
including beaches, sandhills, saltpans, marsh, forest, estuaries and native grasslands that support cultural use and future activity.

healthy country with cultural burning maintained
requiring only targeted clearing and weed control to strengthen land management.

strong potential for land-based enterprise
cattle breeding and grazing
on native grasslands,
supported by rich
biodiversity across the site.

Well placed for action and connection
with an airstrip and an estuary channel
that provides the most
practical travel route between
Mornington Island and the
mainland.
OUR PHASED APPROACH TO REACTIVATION
PARTNERING
The reactivation of Gurridi is supported by the Gurridi Traditional Land Trust, Gunawuna Jungai and METIO.
The Gurridi Traditional Land Trust provides cultural authority and stewardship of the outstation, ensuring all activity remains grounded in Traditional Owner responsibility.
Gunawuna Jungai supports the coordination and operations that make work on Country possible, including logistics, travel preparation and links to training, community service and employment pathways through its Justice Reinvestment program.
METIO provides planning support, helping guide the staged reactivation of Gurridi in line with community priorities. We welcome conversations about partnership
